Sandwich Book Report

Our next book report is due on November 19, 2009. The students have picked their book and have had it approved. They must do the report on the chosen book. The following is the directions and the link to the form for the report. You must copy and paste the link. This is the only one that will be accepted.
Sandwich Book Project
Here are instructions for creating your sandwich book!
1. Write the book title, author, illustrator (if there is one), and your name the BREAD top.
2. Write a one-paragraph summary of the book on the
LETTUCE.
3. Describe or draw the book's setting on the TOMATO.
4. Describe the main character in one paragraph on the
MEAT.
5. Write about a part of the book that made you happy
on the CHEESE.
6. Describe a part of the book that you thought was sweet or sad on the ONION.
Also write what you thought of the book.
7. Tell what you liked or didn't like about the author's style on the BREAD bottom.
8. Last put your sandwich together. Fasten it all together with a brad or a ring.

Make Up Work

Book Reports-If a student did not turn in their first book report they may do two of the activities off of the list on their current book.

Missing Assignments

I will accept missing assignments up until October 15, 2009. Check the website to find suitable replacements for missing assignments.
On Friday students will come home with a list of assignments that they are missing. In order to avoid receiving an F it is up to them to complete the missing assignments and TURN them in to me with their name on it.

2nd book report

Book Report Due Oct 13
Pick ONE of the following acticities:
1. Interview a character from your book. Write at least ten questions that will give the character the opportunity to discuss his/her thoughts and feelings about his/her role in the story. However you choose to present your interview is up to you.
2. Write a diary that one of the story's main characters might have kept before, during, or after the book's events. Remember that the character'sthoughts and feelings are very important in a diary. (you must have at least five entries)
3. Prepare an oral report of 5 minutes. Give a brief summary of the plotand describe the personality of one of the main characters. Be prepared for questions from the class.
4. Build a miniature stage setting of a scene in the book. Include a written explanation of the scene.
5. Make several sketches of some of the scenes in the book and label them.
6. Write a letter (10-sentence minimum) to the main character of your book asking questions, protesting a situation, and/or making a complaint and/or a suggestion. This must be done in the correct letter format.
7. Make a book jacket for the book or story.
8. Draw a comic strip of your favourite scene.
9. Use magazine photos to make a collage about the story
10. Make a mobile that describes the story.
Choose any activity that you would like. You must include the Title, Author and Illustrator somewhere on your project. You will be graded on creativity and accuracy. This means that I will have to be able to tell that you read the book.

September 15, 2009

This week we will take our interval test this will let us know what we have learned and retained so far this year. Our first book report was due on September 11. If it has not been turned in yet it must be done immediately to avoid receiving an F. Our next book report will be due in October. More details will follow soon. We should start selecting our next book now.

Book Report Due 9-11

The students first book report will be due on September 11. The students were given out the form that needs to be completed this week. They should answer each of these blocks in a complete sentence. They should not be writing paragraphs or essays for this book report. Please let me know if there are any questions or concerns.
